Something That I Desparately Wanted When I Was Younger
When I was younger, something that I desperately wanted was an American Girl doll. I wanted an American Girl doll because it was a very popular doll at the time. I was 7 years old when I first discovered them. I fell in love with the dolls because according to the American Girl company, they were made to look like you. One day I wanted to go to the actual store in Chicago, Illinois. So, I finally traveled to Chicago on an AmTrak train with my fourth grade class in 2008 as a part of a school trip. It was not until the last day of the trip that we actually got to go inside of the American Girl Store. Then, we had to leave because it was time to meet back with our family. I told my mother that I wanted one badly, so she was about to head inside to purchase me one when my teacher announced it was time for us to board back to Ohio. I was furious because I had waited so long to get one that day. Just when I thought the day could not get worse, I entered the train and I saw a girl with one. I started throwing a tantrum and started crying. Two years later, I finally got an American Girl doll for my 9th birthday. I felt like the luckiest girl in the World. As I opened the box, I discovered that the doll did not look anything like me nor did it have the same skin tone. I decided to keep it, even though I was not happy with the product at first. Now that I look back, I realized that if people wait patiently for something that they desperately want. They just might have it in the future.
